Sonia Shah, PharmD

Sonia is a clinical pharmacist and clinical instructor with the Medication Review and Academic Detailing (MRAD) department at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). She graduated from Marquette University in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences and from UIC with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2011. She worked in retail pharmacy for 4 years before transitioning to her current role in managed care. She trained with NaRCAD in 2019 to develop her skills as an academic detailer with a current focus on opioid prescribing in chronic pain, Type 2 diabetes management, and smoking cessation. She has created and reviewed educational material for academic detailing visits and leads the student precepting program. Sonia’s interests include education outreach and collaborating with prescribers to optimize pharmacotherapy and patient outcomes in Type 2 diabetes.
