Rucha Patel, PharmD

Rucha is a clinical pharmacist and clinical instructor with the Medication Review and Academic Detailing department at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). She graduated with a bachelors in Biology from UIC in 2010 and a Doctor of Pharmacy from Chicago State University in 2014. Soon after obtaining her license, she worked as a Pharmacy Manager in a retail place for 3 years in Michigan. After moving back home to Chicago in 2017, she was given the opportunity to transition into a managed care role at UIC where she reviews prior authorizations for the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Practices, is a preceptor for pharmacy students, and plays an integral part in the pain and diabetes management team. Rucha has also been trained by experts at NaRCAD where she was able to develop the skills to become an academic detailer. Her primary interest include pain management, patient counseling, and education outreach with patients and prescribers.
