Amy Madhiwala, PharmD

Amy is a clinical pharmacist and clinical instructor with the Medication Review and Academic Detailing department at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). She graduated from UIC with a bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2007 and a Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2011. Amy has 8 years of experience working in a retail pharmacy and transitioned to UIC in 2013 to work in managed care. Her role includes reviewing prior authorizations, creating medical content and consulting with Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services providers with respect to recommendations for improved patient medical therapy. She has been trained by experts at NaRCAD to develop the skills to become an academic detailer with a focus on chronic opioid prescribing. Her interests include educational outreach with providers and pain management.
